Programming
The Programming Sub-Team is relatively small, but efficient. When our programmers are doing their job correctly, their work must be seamless to the point that it’s hardly noticed when the robot is finished. It is the programmers job to not only write code for hybrid mode, but additionally for driving, our manipulator, and all the rest of the behind the scenes controls. Our programmers also share a responsibility in teaching future generations of 1676 how to program.
Our team participates in doing its part to promote gracious professionalism and the key to our success is communication. We not only strive to keep our programmers well informed, but we also utilize the knowledge of other teams as well. If another team needs help or offers us a hand, we do our part to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity during the competition. The programming team uses Labview to program our robot(s).
Tips for Rookies: If a rookie team does not have a great programming team they can always use the code that FIRST has provided. Additionally, they can look at chiefdelphi.com. Chief Delphi is an excellent resource for many things involving FIRST. This includes a forum for the purpose of teaching programming. You must register, and then afterward you can ask questions to other team programmers as well as programming mentors.
