Non-Tech

The Non-Tech team is responsible for writing the awards, keeping track of the team’s budget, taking team photographs, creating the team scrapbook, and anything else the team needs that does not involve building the robot. Non-Tech writes the submissions for the Woodie Flowers and Chairmans Awards. We also create the Business Plan the team will follow to maintain our success. During the season we must compile an excel sheet with all of our purchases in order to keep track of the team’s spending. We use this excel sheet once the robot is done to create the BOM (Bill Of Materials) needed for the robot inspection.

We keep track of the team’s budget using Microsoft Excel. Every time a new package arrives, it has to be double-checked to make sure everything arrived. Once the package is checked, each item’s unit price, description, item number, and quantity ordered are placed in an excel worksheet.

Tips for Rookies: Make sure your Non-Tech team is well versed on the values of FIRST, this comes in handy when writing the awards. Organization is key – if you are not organized your job will be even harder. Also, do not leave things for the last minute, do work day-by-day and it will eventually get done in a timely manner.
