Ball Acquisition Device (BAD)

The Ball Acquisition Device (BAD) group is a sub-division of the mechanical division. It is responsible for building a mechanism at the front of the robot to retrieve balls on the field, as well as lower the ramps at the center of the field. The BAD consists of a horizontal bar that lowers outside the bumpers and entraps balls using a spinner. Once lowered the spinner is able to pull the ball into the robot for the elevator to raise up to the shooter. When the robot approaches the ramp, the BAD is lowered and serves as a wedge to hold the ramp down for the robot. The BAD serves as a multi-functional component of the robot, thus making it unnecessary to make two separate devices, that would take up more space and weight.
